The Average U.S. Household Spent Nearly $10,000 on Transportation in 2020

The common American household invested $9,826 on transportation in 2020, which accounted for 16% of all annual residence expenses. Transportation expenditures contain car buys, gasoline and motor oil, other automobile charges (routine maintenance, coverage, and so on.), and public transportation expenses. For households with incomes among $50,000 and $59,999, transportation accounted for 18% of full expenses — the greatest share of any revenue team. Even though these in the highest revenue group used more on transportation over-all, it made up only 13.3% of their house expenditures, the most affordable share of any revenue team.
