
Norfolk County OPP are investigating a fatal crash involving a bike and pickup truck.

Crisis crews were called out just before 7 p.m. on Friday south of Brantford around Waterford.

Law enforcement say the bike was heading north on Cockshutt Road when it collided with a truck on Thompson Street East.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the truck experienced to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and is now staying addressed for severe accidents.

“It was a really hectic predicament,” stated Sgt. Ed Sanchuk of the OPP.

Law enforcement are investigating the induce of the crash and had the spot roads shut down for the greater part of the night.

On Tuesday evening just 10 minutes away from the area, a further motorcyclist was killed in a collision.

“We see this on a normal basis,” said Sgt. Sanchuk. “These collisions are very preventable.”

Robert McCready is a mbember of North of 42 Riders and states he drives down the extend of highway each day.

“People today will not look to be shelling out the awareness that they used to,” stated McCready. “They often want to get some area that they want ot be, no matter whether it is in a car or motorcycle.

“I want to make sure that I go home to my spouse and children. My young ones.”

OPP say the intersection of Cockshutt and Thompson Roads used to be a two-way cease with an 80 km/h velocity limit. Last yr, it was transformed into a four-way prevent and downgraded to a velocity restrict of 60 km/h.

Sanchuk asks drivers to be mindful of their surroundings and generate at the suitable speed to get to their desired destination properly.
