CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (WLS) — At the very least two individuals have been wounded when a vehicle crashed into a residence in west suburban Crystal Lake.
The incident happened close to 7:30 p.m. in the 100-block of Heather Drive.
Neighbors stated that a blue SUV slammed into and then through the home’s garage before getting airborne and crashing into the next ground of the property.
Crystal Lake police stated the SUV experienced been touring eastbound on Ballard Street and ongoing by way of the intersection with Briarwood Highway just before managing off the roadway and into the garage and dwelling on Heather Push for unidentified factors.
“We read an really loud anything. We didn’t know if it was a crash, or an explosion, something,” reported Danielle Leschuk, neighbor, who was owning dinner at a friend’s household when the crash transpired. “So we arrived out and began to wander above this way and at some point saw that a car had flown by this halt signal, by way of the garage, and airborne into the 2nd story of this house into the toilet where by the particular person that lives there was using a shower.”
Police said the driver of the SUV, an adult male, was extricated from the vehicle by Crystal Lake Hearth and Rescue and airlifted to Condell Hospital with everyday living threatening injuries. An grownup who resides at the home was also airlifted to Condell Medical center with existence threatening injuries, law enforcement claimed.
“It was completely horrific, it was not what we have been expecting. We assumed perhaps just a smaller crash but to know you can find somebody trapped and there is absolutely nothing you can do is heartbreaking,” Leschuck said.
No further more information about the two wounded people today have been unveiled.
A darkish colored SUV was also in the driveway of the household, and appeared to be mainly undamaged, but it was not straight away crystal clear who that vehicle belonged to.
An investigation by Crystal Lake law enforcement is ongoing.
