Making an attempt to fully grasp the core, fundamental drivers of the US
new vehicle market can be tough, and for very good rationale. In
the 2021 calendar calendar year in the US, manufacturers marketed 420 types
throughout 46 brand names, 33 segments, 10 body styles and 3 geographic
origins* – and this is in advance of getting into thought engine
size, gasoline variety, and trim degrees.
Yet, inspite of this complexity, by reviewing retail new car or truck
registration information and migration designs, S&P World wide Mobility
has determined 3 dominant clusters, or cohorts, inside the
mainstream sector of the market. These groupings are
significantly greater in retail registration quantity and their
concentrated migration dynamics than any other clusters.
The objective of this paper is to determine these three cohorts,
explain their features and examine why it is critical to
be aware of them.
